    Standard data rates apply. Data is generated when sending all data, i.e. text, pictures, downloading the client, SMS, MMS.

    Standard SMS and MMS terms of use apply. (Billed on submission, not on delivery)

    Filesharing is limited to 150kb per message.

    Only pictures can be shared, not video, audio.

    Only PC to PC messages are 500 characters, all other messages, i.e. PC to Mobile, Mobile to PC, Mobile to Mobile are limited to 160 characters. The functionality of the service is dependant on the capabilities of your handset.

    The size of the contact list currently is 30 contacts.

    MTN customers can exchange instant messages with Vodacom customers, as Vodacom will have a similar service, provided that Vodacom service is operational at the time.

    MTN customers can invite other MTN noknok users to join chatrooms.Unfortunately no other network’s customers can join chatrooms at this stage.

    Only MTN customers may use the noknok service. (Prepaid, Postpaid and hybrid0

    Offline IM messages will be converted to SMS or MMS on MTN. MTN has no authority to convert offline IM messages to SMS or MMS for Vodacom customers.

    MTN customers cannot exchange pictures with Vodacom customers.

    MTN reserves the right to charge for offline SMS in case of abuse.

    Only certain handsets are capable of using the noknok service (Only WAP2 and XHTML capable devices are capable of accessing the WAP client)

    Depending on handset capabilities, customers can have 7 conversations at a time.

    If a MTN customer is roaming he would be able to use the service provided that MTN has a GPRS roaming agreement with the country. Roaming data charges will apply.

    Use of the noknok service is subject to standard use of service, and MTN reserves the right to restrict access to the service.

    During the promotional period noknok services are free of charge, such as accessing and creating chatrooms, sending offline IM messages, sending pictures to online contacts. These services will be charged when the promotional period ends 1 March 2008.

    Inviting contacts to join your noknok buddy list will be free of charge.

    If a buddy responds to an offline SMS, and he is not logged into an IM service, he will be charged his normal SMS rate.

    If a customer sends a SMS to request his password to 31557 (only MTN subscribers will be allowed to send SMS to this short dial). The subscriber shall receive back an SMS containing his password. This SMS will be charged at the standard SMS rate of his priceplan.

    A customer will only be allowed to be logged into the service via one client, i.e. either a mobile client or a PC client.

    MTN reserves the right to:
    At its sole discretion, de-provision any subscriber from the MTN IM Service in the event of identifying any abuse or fraudulent activity by such subscriber.

    At its sole discretion, withdraw this offer from the market within 24 hours in the event of identifying any abuse or fraudulent activity.

    A configurable daily limit shall apply to the number of IM Messages sent per subscriber (MSISDN) per day. Initially this limit shall be set to 10,000 messages per day.
    Once a subscriber has reached the daily limit he will not be allowed to send any more IM Messages for the duration of that day, however the subscriber will still be able to receive IM Messages. (This does not affect the subscriber’s ability to send SMS and MMS, just not from the PC or Mobile/WAP Client)
    The daily limit of IM Messages shall apply to:
    One-to-one IM Messages: count as one (1) IM Message.
    One-to-group IM Messages: count as one (1) IM Message regardless of number of recipients.
    IM-to-SMS: count as one (1) IM Message.
    IM-to-MMS: count as one (1) IM Message regardless of number of recipients

    If a customer has a buddy that ported to another network, he would have to re-register the buddy on his new address.
